All diamonds that are offered for sale at Doron Diamond Merchant are certified by one of the following independent diamond grading companies: GIA, EGL and IGI. These companies are the world leaders in diamond and gem stone grading, from New York, Antwerp, Tokyo, Dubai, Tel Aviv, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Seoul, Vancouver and Toronto.

What is a certificate?

A diamond certificate is a report that is created by a team of gemologists. The diamond is evaluated, measured and scrutinized using trained eyes, a jewelers’ loop, a microscope and other industry tools. A diamond certificate includes an analysis of the diamonds’ dimensions, clarity, color, polish, symmetry, and other characteristics.

The main two important factors in diamond pricing are color and clarity

Color Grades

(D) Absolute colorless, the highest color grade and is the most extremely rare.

(E) (Colorless, only minute traces of color can be detected by an expert gemologist

(F) Colorless, slight color detected by only a gemologist, but still considered a colorless grade.

(G - H) Near colorless, color noticeable when compared to diamonds of better color.

(I – J) Near colorless, color slightly detectable

(K) Slightly noticeable color

(L – Z) Noticeable color detectable

Clarity
FL & IF: Flawless and internally flawless, no external or internal flaws.

VVS1 and VVS2: Very difficult to see inclusions under 10X magnification

VS1 and VS2: Inclusions are visible with 10X magnification.

SI1, SI2 and SI3: Inclusions are visible with 10X magnification and may be visible with the unaided eye.

I1, I2 and I3: Included, visible without magnification.

Shape

The Round cut is considered the most valuable and desirable followed by the other cuts, Princess, Radiant, Cushion, Emerald, Asher, Marquise, Oval, Pear and Heart.

Fancy Yellow Diamond Are Extremely Rare

Only one in every 10,000 diamonds possesses natural color and is referred to as a fancy color diamond. In such diamonds the main factor in pricing is in the color instead of the clarity. When purchasing a fancy color diamond, the more intense the color the more rare and valuable the diamond will be. The most common and the least expensive is the champagne color followed by the fancy yellow colors and following in order of value are green, pink, blue, purple and then the most expensive is red.
